Lok Bhavan, Sikkim celebrated the Statehood Day of Rajasthan with great enthusiasm and fervour. The Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur graced the celebration held at the Ashirvad Bhavan here under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative.

The programme was attended by the Shri Prem Singh Tamang, Chief Minister of Sikkim, Chief Justice High Court of Sikkim, Justice, Shri Muhamed Mustaque Ayumantakath, Speaker of Sikkim Legislative Assembly (SLA) Shri Mingma Norbu Sherpa, Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Speaker of Smt Raj Kumari Thapa, Justice Smt. Meenakshi Madan Rai and Justice Shri Bhaskar Raj Pradhan, Judges of High Court of Sikkim, Shri Sanjay Sharma, Minister of Forest and Environment, Government of Rajasthan, MLAs, senior government officers, Shri Vineet Chauhan and Shri Sidarth Deval Poets from Rajasthan and host of dignitaries and invitees.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor, Shri Om Prakash Mathur extended his warm greetings . He highlighted that the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ programme, spearheaded by the Prime Minister, aims to preserve and promote India’s rich cultural diversity. He said, “Wherever we go, by showcasing our own culture and traditions and learning about those of others, we build mutual understanding and brotherhood. The initiative of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ aims to foster a spirit of unity, brotherhood and mutual understanding among people of different states and Union Territories by promoting awareness about India’s diverse art, culture, traditions, and heritage.

The Governor remarked that the forts of Rajasthan stand as enduring symbols of the valour and resilience of soldiers who defended their land against invaders. He mentioned the brave Rajasthani Army officer, Major General Sagat and praised for his pivotal role in safeguarding Nathula Pass during the 1967 India China clash. He also praised the courage and valor of women in Rajasthan, noting that they have created inspiring stories of bravery.

He called upon for making India as Vishwa Guru and added that there was a time when India was known as the Vishwa Guru adding that steps must be taken to bring back that past glory of Vishwa Guru.

Chief Minister, Shri Prem Singh Tamang in his address mentioned the Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat initiative, envisioned by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi in celebration of State Formation Day which strengthens the spirit of unity in diversity. He appreciated the initiative of the Lok Bhavan under the guidance of the Governor in celebrating Rajasthan Statehood Day in Sikkim.

Minister of Forest and Environment, Government of Rajasthan, Shri Sanjay Sharma highlighted Rajasthan’s natural resources, desert beauty, and historical heritage. He also appreciated the state’s traditions of environmental conservation and emphasized the need to enhance cooperation between the two states in addressing climate change and environmental protection.

During the celebration, Jazz Band of SSB Siliguri presented a soulful patriotic songs programme followed by Ghoomar dance performed by artists from the Sikkim Marwari community.

Earlier, the programme commenced with a welcome address by Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Shri Jitendra Singh Raje and word of thanks was delivered by Joint Secretary Shri Diwas Gautam.

आज लोकभवन, सिक्किम में माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर और माननीय मुख्यमंत्री श्री प्रेम सिंह तामांग की गरिमामयी उपस्थिति में राजस्थान स्थापना दिवस भव्यता से मनाया गया।

राज्यपाल महोदय ने गीत के माध्यम से राजस्थान की गौरव गाथा, संस्कृति और अपनी माटी का वंदन किया। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत में अनेक भाषाएँ, विविध संस्कृतियाँ और भिन्न-भिन्न खानपान की परंपराएँ हैं, परंतु “एक भारत-श्रेष्ठ भारत” की संकल्पना राष्ट्र की एकता और अखंडता को और अधिक सुदृढ़ बना रही है। यह पहल एक-दूसरे की संस्कृति को जानने और समझने का उत्कृष्ट माध्यम है।
राज्यपाल महोदय ने राजस्थान की वीरता, संस्कृति और परंपराओं का उल्लेख करते हुए कहा कि सीमित संसाधनों में भी राजस्थान के लोग अपनी जिजीविषा और संकल्प शक्ति से जीवन को सार्थक बनाते हैं। राजस्थान की महिलाएँ शौर्य और पराक्रम की अद्भुत कहानियाँ रचती रही हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि हिन्दुस्तान विश्व गुरु था और पुनः सभी के संकल्प और प्रयास से इसे विश्व गुरु बनाना है। उन्होंने जोर देकर कहा कि विभिन्न राज्यों की सांस्कृतिक समृद्धि ही भारत की असली ताकत है।
