05.04.2026 : The Sikkim Governor Shri Om Prakash Mathur today concluded his three day tour to Mangan district, North Sikkim with a visit to 13 Batallion of ITBP at Pegong near Chungthang.
The Sikkim Governor Shri Om Prakash Mathur today concluded his three day tour to Mangan district, North Sikkim with a visit to 13 Batallion of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) at Pegong near Chungthang.
During his visit, the Governor interacted with the ITBP personnel (Himveers and Himveeranganas) posted in Pegong in the border region of North Sikkim.
In his brief address, Shri Om Prakash Mathur praised the ITBP for their dedication and commitment to the nation and lauded them for protecting the country while braving extreme weather and geographical conditions.
He recalled about his visit to ITBP forward post at Kareng situated at an altitude of 17,000ft and stated that the soldiers’ contribution to the security of the country and the protection of the borders is incomparable and their discipline, hard work and patriotism are a source of inspiration for all.
“The jawans for standing in tough situation for the security and shouldering the responsibility of guarding the country’s borders. I would like to tell you that the countrymen are proud of you” added Governor.
He further said that India’s security landscape is rapidly evolving and mentioned that the Central Government is prioritizing the strengthening of the defence sector.
The Governor also reviewed the welfare, living conditions, communication connectivity etc. stationed in Pegong.
While returning, enroute to Gangtok, the Governor met and interacted with the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) personnel and commended their efforts in maintaining infrastructure under harsh weather and difficult terrain conditions.
During the tour, the Governor was accompanied by Mangan District Collector, Shri Anant Jain, Superintendent of Police, Shri L.B. Chettri and officers from civil administration and armed forces.
सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर ने अपने मंगन जिला दौरे के तीसरे और अंतिम दिन चुंगथांग स्थित 11 बटालियन आईटीबीपी (ITBP) का दौरा किया। इस अवसर पर राज्यपाल महोदय ने जवानों तथा महिला टुकड़ी के साथ संवाद किया और उनके साहस व समर्पण की सराहना की।
राज्यपाल महोदय ने जवानों के साथ एक इंटरैक्टिव सत्र में कहा कि वर्तमान परिदृश्य में राष्ट्र की सुरक्षा स्थिति तेजी से बदल रही है तथा केंद्र सरकार रक्षा क्षेत्र को सुदृढ़ बनाने पर पूर्ण ध्यान केंद्रित कर रही है। उन्होंने जवानों से उनके आहार, बिजली, कनेक्टिविटी और जीवन-स्तर की गुणवत्ता के बारे में जानकारी ली। जवानों ने संतोष व्यक्त करते हुए बताया कि पिछले एक दशक में उनके जीवन की गुणवत्ता में उल्लेखनीय सुधार हुआ है। विशेष रूप से आधुनिक सैन्य उपकरणों, बेहतर आहार और डिजिटलीकरण के कारण यह सुधार हुआ है।
जवानों को संबोधित करते हुए राज्यपाल महोदय ने कहा, “आप जोखिमपूर्ण परिस्थितियों के बावजूद देश की सुरक्षा में डटकर खड़े हैं, यही आपकी सच्ची कर्मठता है।”
मैं यहाँ एक राज्यपाल से अधिक मित्रवत भाव से आया हूँ, ताकि आपकी चुनौतियों को समझ सकूँ और आपके साहस व समर्पण का मनोबल बढ़ा सकूँ।”
राज्यपाल महोदय ने विशेष रूप से केरंग पोस्ट पर 17,000 फीट की ऊँचाई पर तैनात आईटीबीपी जवानों के समर्पण, धैर्य और अनुशासन की सराहना की।
राज्यपाल महोदय ने कहा कि आईटीबीपी के जवानों और महिला टुकड़ी का अनुशासन तथा पराक्रम पूरे राष्ट्र के लिए प्रेरणास्रोत है। देश के सीमावर्ती क्षेत्र विशेषकर नॉर्थ सिक्किम को सुरक्षित रखने में आपकी भूमिका अमूल्य है।
दौरे के दौरान राज्यपाल महोदय ने मार्ग में सीमा सड़क संगठन (BRO) के कर्मियों से भी भेंट की और प्रतिकूल मौसम व परिस्थितियों में उनके योगदान की सराहना की।
इस अवसर पर उपस्थित प्रमुख व्यक्तियों में मंगन जिला के उपायुक्त श्री अनंत जैन, पुलिस अधीक्षक श्री एल.बी. छेत्री, 11 बटालियन आईटीबीपी के कमांडेंट श्री राजेश कुमार जोशी, एसडीएम (मंगन) श्री संदीप कुमार तथा एसडीएम (चुंगथांग) श्री अरुण छेत्री सहित अन्य अधिकारी और जवान उपस्थित रहे।
