12.05.2026 : The Governor of Sikkim congratulated Smt. Madhu Mala Gurung on being honoured with the prestigious “National Florence Nightingale Award 2026.”
The Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur congratulated Smt. Madhu Mala Gurung, Senior ANM of Rangpo Primary Health Centre under Pakyong District on being honoured with the prestigious “National Florence Nightingale Award 2026.”
The award was presented by the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi today in recognition of her outstanding nursing excellence and dedicated service to society.
Congratulating Smt. Madhu Mala for her outstanding achievement, the Governor said, “It is a moment of great pride for Sikkim and Healthcare professional that Smt. Gurung being honoured with National Florence Nightingale Award 2026 by President of India in recognition of her outstanding nursing excellence and dedicated service to society during the COVID-19 pandemic and the devastating GLOF 2023.”
The Governor lauded her professionalism, dedication and devotion in providing nursing care to society.
The National Florence Nightingale Awards were instituted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India as a mark of recognition for the meritorious services rendered by the nurses and nursing professionals.
It may mentioned that Smt. Gurung’s son, Dr. Pushkar Gurung is currently serving as a Medical Officer at Lok Bhavan.
Similarly, the Governor also conveyed his greetings on the occasion of International Nurses Day,
and acknowledged the invaluable contribution of nurses in strengthening the healthcare sector.
सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर ने पाकयोंग जिला अंतर्गत रंगपो प्राथमिक स्वास्थ्य केंद्र में कार्यरत एएनएम श्रीमती मधु माला गुरुंग को प्रतिष्ठित ‘राष्ट्रीय फ्लोरेंस नाइटिंगेल पुरस्कार-2026’ के लिए चुने जाने पर हार्दिक बधाई और शुभकामनाएँ दी हैं। श्रीमती गुरुंग को यह सम्मान नई दिल्ली में माननीय राष्ट्रपति श्रीमती द्रौपदी मुर्मू जी के कर-कमलों द्वारा प्रदान किया गया है।
अपने संदेश में माननीय राज्यपाल ने कहा कि श्रीमती गुरुंग की यह उपलब्धि पूरे सिक्किम प्रदेश के लिए गौरव का क्षण है। उन्होंने जमीनी स्तर पर स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं के प्रति उनके समर्पण की सराहना करते हुए कहा कि श्रीमती मधु माला गुरुंग ने कोविड-19 महामारी और बाढ़ जैसी गंभीर आपदाओं के दौरान जिस निस्वार्थ भाव और अटूट संकल्प के साथ मानवता की सेवा की है, यह पुरस्कार उसी कर्तव्यनिष्ठा का प्रतिफल है।
अंतरराष्ट्रीय नर्स दिवस के अवसर पर अपनी शुभकामनाएं साझा करते हुए राज्यपाल महोदय ने स्वास्थ्य क्षेत्र में नर्सों के अमूल्य योगदान को रेखांकित किया है।
यह अवसर ‘लोकभवन’ परिवार के लिए भी दोहरी प्रसन्नता का विषय है, श्रीमती गुरुंग के पुत्र डॉ. पुष्कर गुरुंग वर्तमान में लोकभवन, सिक्किम में अपनी सेवाएँ दे रहे हैं।
