The Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur embarked his three-day official visit to the Gyalshing district today.
On the first day, the Governor arrived at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Labing-Gerethang, under Yuksam-Tashiding, Gyalshing District.
Upon arrival, the Governor was warmly welcomed by Minister-cum-Area MLA of Yuksam-Tashiding, Shri Tshering T. Bhutia, along with Member of Parliament Lok Sabha Dr. Indra Hang Subba, district heads, Panchayat members, teachers and students of the school.
Addressing the formal programme held in the school auditorium, the Governor expressed his delight at being present at an institution named after Kasturba Gandhi, a revered figure across the nation.
The Governor emphasised that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the vision of a developed India by 2047 requires collective efforts from all sections of society, particularly students and youth, to achieve this goal.
In his brief address, Area MLA-Cum-Minister Shri Bhutia informed the Governor of various developmental interventions undertaken by the State Government to promote the holistic growth of the school and the constituency. He emphasised that despite its remote location, the school has consistently provided quality education to underprivileged students.
MP Lok Sabha, Mr Subba expressed gratitude to the Governor for visiting one of the remotest areas of the region and for taking initiatives towards its development. He also acknowledged the Governor’s role in facilitating approvals from the Centre for various developmental projects in the State and added that the visit would significantly contribute to the growth and overall development of the region.
Principal PM Shree KGBV Ms Pradhan, in her welcome address, extended gratitude to the Governor for visiting the school. She also highlighted the recent achievements of students in sports and academics, which have brought recognition and pride to the institution since its inception.
During a special interaction session with the students, the Governor assured every support to the institution.
सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर का गेजिंग ज़िले का तीन दिवसीय दौरा
सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर 20 से 22 मई 2026 तक गेजिंग ज़िले के तीन दिवसीय दौरे पर हैं। इस दौरे का उद्देश्य स्थानीय जनजीवन को निकट से समझना तथा नागरिकों से संवाद करना है।
आज पहले दिन राज्यपाल महोदय कस्तूरबा गांधी बालिका विद्यालय, लाबिंग, गेरेथांग पहुँचे। विद्यालय परिसर में छात्राओं ने उनका गर्मजोशी से स्वागत किया। राज्यपाल महोदय ने छात्राओं, शिक्षकों और शिक्षा विभाग के अधिकारियों से बातचीत की।
संवाद के दौरान छात्राओं और शिक्षकों ने अपनी चुनौतियाँ साझा की जिनमें विशेष रूप से खेल मैदान की कमी, एम्बुलेंस सुविधा की आवश्यकता पर जोर दिया।
राज्यपाल महोदय ने इन विषयों को सुना और आश्वासन दिया कि इन्हें प्राथमिकता से देखा जाएगा।
विशेष बात यह रही कि राज्यपाल महोदय ने आवास व्यवस्था, पढ़ाई के बारे में जानकारी लेते हुए छात्राओं के साथ भोजन किया और उनके दैनिक जीवन का अनुभव साझा किया।
इस अवसर पर माननीय लोकसभा सांसद डॉ. इंद्रहांग सुब्बा तथा माननीय क्षेत्रीय विधायक सह पर्यटन एवं नागरिक उड्डयन विभाग के माननीय मंत्री श्री टीटी भूटिया उपस्थित रहे।

सांसद महोदय ने राज्यपाल महोदय को अवगत कराया कि पेलिंग से होते हुए योकसाम–ताशीडींग से लेकशिप तक की सड़क को राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग बनाने की पहल राज्य सरकार द्वारा की गई है। इस पर राज्यपाल महोदय ने समर्थन देने का आश्वासन दिया है।
