    As part of the second session of the first day of his three-day official tour to Gyalshing District, the Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, visited the Khangchendzonga National Park (KNP) Interpretation Centre at Yuksam on Wednesday.
    Upon his arrival, the Governor visited a souvenir outlet managed by local Self Help Groups (SHGs), where he interacted with the members and enquired about the locally manufactured products, their marketing strategies and sales performance. He appreciated the efforts of the SHGs in promoting indigenous products and generating livelihood opportunities in the region.
    An interaction session was at the conference hall of the KNP Interpretation Centre where the Governor interacted with local panchayats and SHG members.
    Welcoming the Governor, the Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Department-cum-Area MLA, Shri Tshering Thendup Bhutia highlighted several ongoing developmental initiatives in the Yuksam-Tashiding constituency, including the virtual foundation laying of the Green Tara Devi Statue by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the proposed Eco Wellness Experience Centre, construction of an alternative bridge at Khangchendzonga Waterfall, construction of a new SDM Office, blacktopping and opening of new roads, facilitation of issuance of Goechala Trek permits directly from Yuksam, upgradation of healthcare facilities, declaration of Khecheopalri Lake as a Ramsar Site and the recognition of Khangchendzonga National Park as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, among various other developmental works underway in the constituency.
    He expressed gratitude to the Governor for visiting the region with the objective of gaining firsthand understanding of the local way of life and interacting directly with the people.
    Subsequently, the Governor virtually inaugurated the Rooftop Solar System under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. During the programme, it was informed that 100 beneficiaries have been identified for consumer connections under the CSR initiative being implemented through HDFC HRDP Parivartan, with priority being accorded to BPL families. It was further informed that, to date, 11 rooftop solar systems have already been successfully installed at Yuksam through self-contribution. An allotment order under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana was also handed over to the beneficiaries.
    Thereafter, the programme proceeded with an interactive session with Panchayats and SHGs. During the interaction, SHG representatives highlighted various livelihood and entrepreneurial initiatives being undertaken across the constituency. The SHGs informed that millet-based products such as cookies, chips and ladoos are witnessing increasing market demand owing to their nutritional and health benefits.
    It was further informed that across six GPUs under the Yuksam-Tashiding constituency, 178 SHGs are actively engaged in various income-generating activities including pickle making, soap making, Angora rabbit farming and wool-based products, moringa powder production, cherry pepper pickling, mushroom cultivation and other sustainable enterprises. The SHG members also placed a demand for the establishment of a dedicated block office space to facilitate regular interaction, exchange of ideas and collaborative initiatives among SHGs.
    The Governor patiently heard the concerns and suggestions raised by the local panchayats, SHGs and general public and assured appropriate intervention on the matters highlighted. He observed that Angora wool products possess high market demand and value and stressed the need to further promote local handicrafts and organic products with strong commercial potential. Highlighting Sikkim’s advantage as an organic state, the Governor remarked that locally produced organic goods require better market access and strategic promotion to ensure optimum returns for the hardworking women associated with SHGs.
    He encouraged the SHG members to continue their commendable initiatives and to focus on products with long-term market potential and sustainable demand. The Governor assured that all possible support would be extended from his side towards the welfare, empowerment and socio-economic upliftment of women in the region. He also enquired about the physical progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) works being implemented in the area.
    A colourful cultural programme featuring traditional Limboo, Lepcha, Nepali and Bhutia folk dances was also presented during the occasion, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and unity in diversity of the State.

    सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल अपने गेजिंग जिले के प्रथम दिवसीय दौरे के दौरान सिक्किम की प्रथम राजधानी युक्सम पहुंचे, जहां उन्होंने कंचनजंघा राष्ट्रीय उद्यान हॉल में आयोजित एक विशेष कार्यक्रम में मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में शिरकत की।

    कार्यक्रम परिसर में पहुँचने के पश्चात माननीय राज्यपाल ने सबसे पहले स्वयं सहायता समूह की महिलाओं द्वारा आत्मनिर्भरता के तहत निर्मित पारंपरिक हस्तशिल्प और स्थानीय उत्पादों की प्रदर्शनी का अवलोकन किया।

    इसके अतिरिक्त, माननीय राज्यपाल ने केंद्र सरकार की महत्वाकांक्षी “पीएम सूर्य घर: मुफ्त बिजली योजना” के अंतर्गत लगाए गए रूफ टॉप सोलर सिस्टम का उद्घाटन कर लाभार्थियों को समर्पित किया।

    कार्यक्रम में मुख्य रूप से माननीय राज्यपाल ने कंचनजंघा कंजर्वेशन कमेटी (NGO), स्थानीय पंचायत सदस्यों, वन विभाग के अधिकारियों और स्वयं सहायता समूहों (SHGs) के साथ एक व्यापक समीक्षा बैठक और संवाद कार्यक्रम में भाग लिया।

    इस बातचीत के दौरान माननीय राज्यपाल ने क्षेत्र में चल रहे विकास कार्यों की प्रगति का जायजा लिया और उपस्थित SHGs की महिलाओं और जनप्रतिनिधियों ने अपने-अपने कार्यों और उपलब्धियों का विवरण साझा किया।
    उपस्थित जनसमूह को प्रेरित करते हुए राज्यपाल महोदय ने कहा कि सिक्किम में विकास की असीम संभावनाएं मौजूद हैं। उन्होंने सभी को नए नवाचार अपनाने तथा सिक्किम के जैविक उत्पादों को और अधिक बढ़ावा देने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया जिसकी वैश्विक बाजार में भारी मांग है।
    इस दौरान उनके द्वारा कई मांगें भी रखी गईं जिनमें विशेष रूप से क्षेत्र में राष्ट्रीयकृत बैंक,स्वयं सहायता समूह के लिए कार्यालय आदि प्रमुख रहे।
    इसी क्रम में राज्यपाल महोदय ने जिला प्रशासन की एक पहल, ‘विलेज लाइब्रेरी सह पुस्तक दान केंद्र’ का भी दौरा किया और ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में शिक्षा के प्रचार-प्रसार के लिए इस कदम को उपयोगी बताया।

    कार्यक्रम के समापन पर माननीय राज्यपाल ने पर्यावरण संरक्षण के क्षेत्र में अनुकरणीय कार्य करने के लिए कंचनजंघा कंजर्वेशन कमेटी को विशेष रूप से सम्मानित किया।

    इस अवसर पर माननीय क्षेत्र विधायक श्री टी.टी. भूटिया, माननीय लोकसभा सांसद श्री इंद्रहांग सुब्बा, गेजिंग के जिला अधिकारी तेंजिंग डी. देंजोंगपा, पुलिस अधीक्षक छिरिंग शेरपा, विभिन्न सरकारी विभागों के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी, पंचायत प्रतिनिधि, स्वयं सहायता समूह (SHGs) की महिलाएं और स्थानीय नागरिक मुख्य रूप से उपस्थित रहे।

    कार्यक्रम में सिक्किम की विविधता पूर्ण संस्कृति को दर्शाती साँस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम भी रखा गया जिसका सभी ने आनंद लिया।
