06.07.2026 : The Governor of Sikkim unveiled an 8.5-feet tall Panchdhatu statue of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II in a function held at Jai Narain Vyas University (JNVU), Jodhpur, Rajasthan today.
The Governor of Sikkim Shri Om Prakash Mathur unveiled an 8.5-feet tall Panchdhatu statue of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II in a function held at Jai Narain Vyas University (JNVU), Jodhpur, Rajasthan today.
The Governor graced in the programme as the chief guest.
Maharaja Jaswant Singh II was the founder of Jaswant College and a pioneer of education in Marwar.
This statue has been installed under the “Akhar-Ujas” campaign of the present student union with the support of philanthropists and initiated by former JNVU Student Union President Shri Arvind Singh Bhati.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor stated that the statue of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II is not merely a sculpture, but a living inspiration of Marwar’s glorious history, education, and good governance.
He further referred to the visionary thoughts of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, stating that to realize the resolve of “Viksit Bharat 2047” the younger generation must embrace this very “Akhar-Ujas” — the light of knowledge. He called upon the youth to actively participate in nation-building.
The ceremony was attended by Maharaja Gaj Singh II, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Satish Poonia, senior leader Shri Rajendra Rathore, MLA Shri Babu Singh Rathore, Shri Atul Bhansali, along with many distinguished dignitaries, public representatives, and guests.
The unveiling ceremony witnessed a thousands of students, academicians, intellectuals and the general public.
जयनारायण व्यास विश्वविद्यालय (JNVU) परिसर, जोधपुर में आज एक समारोह आयोजित किया गया, जिसमें सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर ने मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में शिरकत की।
इस गरिमामयी अवसर पर मारवाड़ में शिक्षा की अलख जगाने वाले और जसवंत कॉलेज के संस्थापक महाराजा जसवंत सिंह द्वितीय की 8.5 फीट ऊँची पंचधातु की प्रतिमा का अनावरण माननीय राज्यपाल द्वारा किया गया।
यह प्रतिमा जेएनयूवी के पूर्व छात्रसंघ अध्यक्ष श्री अरविंद सिंह भाटी और वर्तमान छात्र समिति के “आखर-उजास” अभियान के तहत, प्रबुद्ध भामाशाहों के सहयोग से स्थापित की गई है।
समारोह को संबोधित करते हुए मुख्य अतिथि माननीय राज्यपाल ने कहा कि महाराजा जसवंत सिंह द्वितीय की यह प्रतिमा केवल एक मूर्ति नहीं है, बल्कि यह मारवाड़ के गौरवशाली इतिहास, शिक्षा और सुशासन की जीवंत प्रेरणा है।
माननीय राज्यपाल ने देश के यशस्वी प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी जी के दूरदर्शी विचारों का उल्लेख करते हुए कहा कि ‘विकसित भारत @2047’ के संकल्प को साकार करने के लिए युवा पीढ़ी को इसी ‘आखर-उजास’ (ज्ञान के उजाले) से जुड़ना होगा। उन्होंने युवाओं से राष्ट्र निर्माण में अपनी सक्रिय भागीदारी निभाने का आह्वान किया।
इस कार्यक्रम में मारवाड़ के पूर्व महाराजा श्री गज सिंह जी, राज्यसभा सांसद डॉ. सतीश पूनियां, वरिष्ठ नेता श्री राजेंद्र राठौड़ ,विधायक श्री बाबू सिंह राठौड़ , श्री अतुल भंसाली सहित कई गणमान्य जन, जनप्रतनिधि और अतिथि उपस्थित रहे।
अनावरण समारोह के दौरान विश्वविद्यालय परिसर में हजारों की संख्या में छात्रों, शिक्षाविदों, प्रबुद्धजनों और आम जनमानस की भारी उपस्थिति रही।
