Sikkim Governor, Shri Om Prakash Mathur today convened a meeting with various Pharmaceutical companies having their manufacturing plants in the State at Lok Bhavan, Gangtok.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner cum Secretary, Lok Bhavan, Shri Jitendra Singh Raje, Secretary of Commerce and Industries department, Ms. Karma Youtso, officials of Commerce and Industries department and HR Heads & Plant Heads.
The objective of the meeting was to engage with the pharmaceutical industry, review the industrial operations and strengthen its collaboration with the state government in promoting the State’s industrial expansion and overall development.
During the meeting, representatives of various pharmaceutical companies
provided an overview of their operations, production, growth strategy, financial performance, challenges, corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives and future prospects.
The representatives also underscored the Sikkim’s significant contribution to India’s pharmaceutical manufacturing sector, stating that the State plays a leading role in the production and supply of life-saving medicines across the country.
The Governor listened carefully to every representation and assured them that the issues they had raised would be examined thoroughly and addressed through appropriate measures.
The Governor also reviewed the use of CSR funds by pharmaceutical companies, emphasizing the importance of aligning CSR initiatives with the State’s developmental priorities and maximizing their impact on community welfare, rural development, healthcare, environmental conservation and the improvement of educational infrastructure. Stating that CSR resources should directly benefit the people of the State and called for a structured approach to achieve the objective of CSR.
He also suggested to study best practices adopted by other places in mobilizing CSR funds and to adopt suitable models for Sikkim.
He reiterated that strengthening CSR participation is essential for accelerating development and improving public welfare.
The pharmaceutical representatives expressed their gratitude to the Governor for taking the initiative to arrange a meeting with them at Lok Bhavan.

सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर की अध्यक्षता में आज लोकभवन में राज्य की अग्रणी फार्मास्युटिकल कंपनियों के साथ एक उच्च स्तरीय समीक्षा बैठक आयोजित की गई।
इस बैठक का मुख्य उद्देश्य दवा निर्माता कंपनियों के साथ सीधा संवाद स्थापित करना, उनकी वर्तमान औद्योगिक गतिविधियों की समीक्षा करना और राज्य के विकास में उनकी भागीदारी को और मजबूत करना रहा।
बैठक के दौरान विभिन्न कंपनियों के प्रतिनिधियों ने विस्तृत प्रेजेंटेशन के माध्यम से अपनी कार्यप्रणाली, उत्पादन क्षमता और भविष्य की योजनाओं की जानकारी दी। एक खुली चर्चा के दौरान प्रतिनिधियों ने उद्योग के सामने आ रही चुनौतियों और उनके समाधान के लिए अपने महत्वपूर्ण सुझाव भी साझा किए, जिन्हें राज्यपाल महोदय ने ध्यानपूर्वक सुना और उन पर गहन विचार-विमर्श करते हुए समाधान का आश्वासन दिया है।
इसी क्रम में, फार्मास्युटिकल कंपनियों के प्रतिनिधियों ने रेखांकित किया कि देश के औषधि निर्माण क्षेत्र में सिक्किम एक अग्रणी भूमिका निभा रहा है और राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर जीवन रक्षक दवाओं की आपूर्ति में राज्य का बहुत बड़ा योगदान है। इसके साथ ही, प्रतिनिधियों ने राज्य के युवाओं को रोजगार प्रदान करने और स्थानीय अर्थव्यवस्था को मजबूत करने में इन कंपनियों के महत्वपूर्ण योगदान के बारे में भी विस्तार से बताया।
संवाद के दौरान, राज्यपाल महोदय ने कंपनियों द्वारा कॉर्पोरेट सामाजिक उत्तरदायित्व (CSR) फंड के उपयोग की समीक्षा की। उन्होंने विशेष रूप से जोर देते हुए कहा कि CSR फंड का एक बड़ा हिस्सा स्थानीय जन कल्याण, ग्रामीण विकास, स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं पर्यावरण संरक्षण और शिक्षा के स्तर को सुधारने में लगाया जाना चाहिए, ताकि जमीनी स्तर पर आम जनता को इसका सीधा लाभ मिल सके।
इस महत्वपूर्ण बैठक में राज्यपाल महोदय के आयुक्त-सह-सचिव श्री जितेंद्र सिंह राजे, वाणिज्य एवं उद्योग विभाग की सचिव सुश्री कर्मा डी. यूतसो सहित विभाग के अन्य वरिष्ठ अधिकारी उपस्थित रहे।फार्मा कंपनियों के प्रतिनिधियों ने राज्यपाल महोदय के मार्गदर्शन और इस पहल की सराहना करते हुए कहा कि लोकभवन के इतिहास में इस प्रकार की यह पहली बैठक है। इस तरह के सीधे संवाद और समन्वय से राज्य में औद्योगिक विकास को एक नई गति मिलेगी और आपसी सहयोग और मजबूत होगा।
