12.09.2026 : A delegation of media professionals from Himachal Pradesh led by Shri Sanjeev Kumar Sharma (IIS), Assistant Director, PIB, HP called on Sikkim Governor at Lok Bhavan today.
A delegation of media professionals from Himachal Pradesh (HP) led by Shri Sanjeev Kumar Sharma (IIS), Assistant Director, Press Information Bureau (PIB, HP) called on Sikkim Governor Shri Om Prakash Mathur at Lok Bhavan today.
They are in Sikkim as part of an exposure visit organised by the Press Information Bureau, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
During the courtesy meeting, the Governor engaged with media personnel and shared his views and observations on the Sikkim’s rich cultural heritage, governance systems, development initiatives, conservation of environment and tourism sector of the Himalayan State.
The Governor highlighted several key aspects related to Sikkim’s strategic importance and socio-cultural development. He emphasized the significance of Sikkim’s international borders, particularly in the context of Nathu La Pass which shares a border with China. He also mentioned that Nathula Vijay Diwas is celebrated on 11 September.
He highlighted the crucial role played by Major General Sagat Singh in defending the Nathu La and Cho La Passes against Chinese incursions, leading to a decisive victory in 1967.
They discussed several issues of mutual interest concerning Sikkim and Himachal Pradesh as both the State have vast tourism potential. They also held discussion over the rich cultural heritage shared by both Himalayan States along with opportunities for better and closer cooperation in tourism and culture which would contribute to the overall growth and prosperity of Sikkim and Himachal Pradesh.
The Governor stated that Sikkim is a model example, known for its cleanliness, being plastic free, low crime against women, good traffic management.
The Governor said that such study tour will provide an opportunity to gain a better understanding of development schemes and initiatives being implemented at the grassroots level. He also wished them a pleasant stay in Sikkim.
They expressed their gratitude and thanked the Governor for granting them an audience.

सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर से आज लोकभवन में हिमाचल प्रदेश के वरिष्ठ पत्रकारों के एक प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने शिष्टाचार भेंट की।
यह दौरा भारत सरकार के सूचना एवं प्रसारण मंत्रालय के तत्वावधान में पत्र सूचना कार्यालय (PIB) द्वारा आयोजित मीडिया अन्तर्राजीय अध्ययन यात्रा के हिस्से के रूप में आयोजित किया गया है।
इस प्रतिनिधिमंडल का नेतृत्व पीआईबी के सहायक निदेशक श्री संजीव कुमार शर्मा (IIS) ने किया।
इस शिष्टाचार मुलाकात के दौरान माननीय राज्यपाल और हिमाचल प्रदेश के वरिष्ठ पत्रकारों के बीच कई विषयों पर सार्थक चर्चा हुई जिसमें विशेष रूप से दोनों पर्वतीय राज्यों की समृद्ध संस्कृति, शासन प्रणालियों और पर्यटन विकास से जुड़े विभिन्न महत्वपूर्ण विषयों पर विचारों का आदान-प्रदान किया गया।
माननीय राज्यपाल ने पत्रकारों से बातचीत करते हुए कहा कि इस प्रकार के अंतर-राज्यीय दौरों से न केवल पत्रकारों को जमीनी स्तर पर चल रही विकास योजनाओं को समझने का मौका मिलता है, बल्कि राज्यों के बीच सांस्कृतिक सेतु भी मजबूत होता है।
