On the auspicious occasion of ‘Indrajatra’, Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur has extended his warm greetings to the people of Sikkim, especially Newar community.
In his message, Governor said, “The cultural festival of Indrajatra is associated with our Newar Community and celebrated in the honour of deity Lord Indra, the king of heaven as per Hindu mythology. The vibrant celebration of Indrajatra showcases the rich cultural ethos of Sikkim marked by colour, devotion, community participation, and timeless traditions. From sacred rituals to joyous gatherings, the festival reflects the enduring spirit of togetherness and cultural pride that defines the people of the State. I hope that this sacred festival will strengthen the values of peace, harmony, compassion and unity, and bring joy, good health and prosperity to every individual.”

सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर ने ‘इंद्रजात्रा’ पर्व के शुभ अवसर पर नेवार समुदाय के साथ-साथ सभी प्रदेश वासियों को हार्दिक शुभकामनाएं और बधाई दी हैं।
अपने संदेश में माननीय राज्यपाल ने कहा, “इंद्रजात्रा, भगवान इंद्र को समर्पित नेवार समुदाय द्वारा बड़ी श्रद्धा और उत्साह के साथ मनाए जाने वाले त्योहारों में से एक है। इस दिन भगवान इंद्र से प्रचुर मात्रा में फसल और सामूहिक कल्याण के लिए आशीर्वाद मांगा जाता है।
यह त्योहार नेवार समाज में प्रचलित पारंपरिक धार्मिक-सामाजिक कला, वास्तुकला, चित्रकला, मूर्तिकला, गायन-वादन और मंच कला की प्रस्तुति का एक सामूहिक उत्सव भी है।
राज्यपाल महोदय ने कहा कि त्योहार समाज में धार्मिक सहिष्णुता, सांस्कृतिक विविधता और सामाजिक एकता को मजबूत करने का एक माध्यम है।
आइए, इस पावन अवसर पर हम सब मिलकर आपसी सद्भाव, एकता और भाईचारे के साथ राज्य को और अधिक सशक्त बनाने का दृढ़ संकल्प लें।
