Sikkim Governor Shri Om Prakash Mathur paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on the occasion of their birth anniversaries at Lok Bhavan today.
Governor paid floral tribute to the father of the nation and former Prime Minister.
On the occasion, Governor Shri Om Prakash Mathur said “Gandhi’s ideals of truth, non-violence, selfless service and cleanliness advocated by Gandhi continue to guide in our daily life even today. Lal Bahadur Shastri’s life remains a symbol of simplicity, patriotism, integrity and selfless service continue to inspire us to work towards nation-building.”
Governor called upon everyone to follow the philosophy of peace and nonviolence, cleanliness, patriotism and unity as propounded by two great leaders and contribute towards building a strong, self-reliant and clean India.
Officials, staff of Lok Bhavan and security personnel were also present.

आज गांधी जयंती और भारत के द्वितीय प्रधानमंत्री श्री लाल बहादुर शास्त्री जी की जयंती के अवसर पर, सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर ने लोकभवन परिसर में राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी की प्रतिमा पर माल्यार्पण किया और पारंपरिक ‘खादा’ भेंट कर नमन किया।
इसके साथ ही, राज्यपाल महोदय ने देश के पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री श्री लाल बहादुर शास्त्री जी के चित्र पर भी पुष्प अर्पित कर अपनी श्रद्धांजलि दी। इस अवसर पर लोकभवन के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी, कर्मचारी और सुरक्षा बल भी उपस्थित रहे।
माननीय राज्यपाल ने इस अवसर पर कहा, “महात्मा गांधी के सत्य, अहिंसा और स्वच्छता के विचार आज भी पूरे विश्व का मार्गदर्शन कर रहे हैं। वहीं दूसरी ओर, श्री लाल बहादुर शास्त्री जी की सादगी, देशभक्ति राष्ट्र निर्माण के लिए प्रेरित करता है।
राज्यपाल महोदय ने उपस्थित सभी से एक अधिक मजबूत, आत्मनिर्भर और स्वच्छ भारत का निर्माण में दोनों महान विभूतियों के आदर्शों, मूल्यों और दिखाए गए मार्ग पर चलने का आह्वान किया ।
