    Amrit Mahotsav Park

    The Amrit Mahotsav Green Park at Topakhani in Sang Khola ward of Beng Phegyong GPU was formally inaugurated today by Former Governor Ganga Prasad on feb 27 2022 in the presence of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, Cabinet ministers, area MLA and other dignitaries.
    The Amrit Mahotsav Green Park is one of the developmental initiatives of the district administration with active coordination and participation from line departments. It may be mentioned that the Beng-Phegyong GPU is adopted by the Governor of Sikkim with an aim to convert it into a model village with all required amenities.
    At the outset, the Governor unveiled the plaque and inaugurated the Amrit Mahotsav Green Park.
    Thereafter, the dignitaries carried out an inspection of the park and visited the stalls managed by Self Help Groups.
    At the stage, the programme commenced with the lighting of ceremonial lamp and offering of garland to the portrait of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati to mark the birth anniversary of the great saint and freedom fighter.
    Governor Ganga Prasad, in his address, commended the active participation and support of all individuals and departments for the successful completion and inauguration of the landmark Amrit Mahotsav Green Park.
    He said that he is deeply inspired by the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi for rural development, as a result of which he adopted a few villages and ensured their development. He outlined some of the key initiatives of the Raj Bhavan towards rural development.
    He added that the Amrit Mahotsav Green Park is an asset of the GPU which will benefit the local people. He said that this is one more addition to the tourism infrastructure and amenities in the State. He urged the local people to maintain the park and ensure economic development of the area.
    The Governor also highlighted the objective of celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. He urged everyone to work together for the development of the State.

    Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, the guest of honour, began his address by paying his tribute to Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati on his birth anniversary. He elucidated some of the inspiring works of the freedom fighter especially in the field of education, social reforms and his emphasis on the importance of Hindi language.
