Bhishma Narain Singh
Shri B.N. Singh (Additional Charge) was born in Jharkhand (Udaigarh, Palamau District) on 13 July 1933 and graduated from Benaras Hindu University. He was appointed as the Governor of Sikkim on May 31 1985. During his tenure as Governor was close to the people of Sikkim in celebrating Pang Lhabsol and Losoong, the main festivals of Sikkim. Pang Lhabsol is dedicated to worship Mt. Kangchendzonga and Losoong is celebrated to mark the end of the harvest season. His contribution was active in support and foundation work done for the inclusion of Sikkim in the North East Council – the institutional framework and nodal agency of those days for the economic and social development of North East states. He was a member of All India Congress Committee (AICC) for more than three decades and was a permanent invitee of the Congress Parliamentary Board from 1978 to 1983 under the Presidency of Mrs. Indira Gandhi.
