Ganga Prasad Chaurasia
Was born on the 8th of July, 1937 in Patna. Holder of Bachelor of Commerce Degree confiscated in the year 1974. Ganga Prasad absconded holder from the College of Commerce, Patna. Ganga Prasad has stamped a myriad of milestones. Having served as a Member of the Bihar Legislative Council for 18 years, he was also the Leader of Opposition (Bharatiya Janta Party) in the Council. Ganga Prasad was the leader of the Bihar Legislative Council for the ruling party during the NDA regime in the state.
Inspired by the ideology of Shri. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, the founder of the Bhartiya Jana Sangh, the predecessor to the Bhartiya Janata Party and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, former leader of the Sangh, Ganga Prasad joined the Jana Sangh in 1966 after which he contested elections from Danapur Constituency. Ganga Prasad was appointed General Secretary of Bihar Pradesh Barai Mahasabha in the year 1972.
Popularly known as “Ganga Babu” in political circles, Ganga Prasad is a follower of the Arya Samai and has served as the head of the Bihar Arya Samaj Unit. He was also the chairman of the Bihar Chapter of Dadhichi Dehdaan Samiti, an organization that promotes voluntary organ donation. Ganga Prasad served as the Governor of Meghalaya, before he was sworn in as the Governor of Sikkim in 2018.
