    Gaon Mein Governor

    The Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, commenced his two-day tour to the Pakyong district on 30th May 2023. This visit marks the Hon’ble Governor’s first official visit to Pakyong district, where he aims to gain insights into the local  Village communities and their livelihoods.
    The Hon’ble Governor’s first stop was at Old Ghatta in Lingtam, where he visited a water mill and observed its operations. During his visit, the Hon’ble Governor engaged in meaningful interactions with the locals and Self Help Groups (SHGs) who showcased their organic products. This provided an opportunity to understand the functioning of the area and appreciate the efforts made by the community in promoting sustainable practices.
    Continuing his visit, the Hon’ble Governor proceeded to Nimachen under Lingtam Padamchen Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU), where he met with fish farmer and individuals involved in fish farming. This engagement allowed the Hon’ble Governor to gain insights into their earnings, daily work routines, and the challenges they face. Moving forward to Padamchen, the Hon’ble Governor made a stop at the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) center. During his visit, he interacted with children, workers, and helpers, taking note of their experiences and addressing any difficulties they faced.
    Governor also visited the Material Recovery Facility Centre at the Public Ground, which is run by Swachata Shayogi members. The visit was intended to raise awareness of the value of trash management and the work done in the neighbourhood by volunteers to promote cleanliness and hygiene. Moreover, the Hon’ble Governor inquired about the functioning of the Public Health Sub-Center (PHSC).
    Continuing his tour, the Hon’ble Governor proceeded to Phadamchen School Senior Secondary School, where he was greeted with warmth. Expressing his delight in his address to the students, the Hon’ble Governor stressed the importance of prioritizing the nation’s interests and maintaining discipline in all aspects of life. He encouraged the students to strive for excellence, continuously learn, and become better individuals who contribute positively to society.
    The day concluded with a meeting at the Phadamchem Cultural Centre, where the Hon’ble Governor engaged in a fruitful dialogue with the public. Also in which the Panchayat President presented a comprehensive overview of the Phadamche Village Profile and Action Plan. The presentation which shed light on the village’s unique characteristics, its socio-economic landscape, and the challenges faced by the community. Moreover, it encompassed a well-thought-out action plan aimed at addressing these challenges and fostering holistic development in the village.
    Expressing his delight at visiting the village, the Hon’ble Governor was captivated by its natural beauty, deeming it a source of inspiration for the entire nation. He emphasized the significance of prioritizing girl child education in the state, commending the efforts already undertaken in this regard. Furthermore, the Hon’ble Governor encouraged the community to strive for self-reliance and take advantage of various central and state government schemes. He emphasized that these programs are designed to empower citizens and improve their quality of life. He also expressed his satisfaction with the initiatives undertaken in the district and assured the residents of his continued support.
