Governor attended the inaugural function of the 5th State Strength Lifting Competition and graced the event as chief guest at BAC Martam.

The Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya attended the inaugural function of the 5th State Strength Lifting Competition where he graced the event as chief guest at BAC Martam today, He was accompanied by Hon’ble Minister Forest Department Shri Karma Loday Bhutia, Hon’ble Area MLA Shri Sonam Venchungpa, Chairman Khadi Boards Smt. Chung Chung Bhutia and other dignitaries.
The program flagged off with the customary lighting of butter lamps by the Hon’ble Governor followed by a welcome speech by the president of SSLA Shri Allen Targain where he briefed about the achievements and work of SSLA. The Hon’ble Minister of Forest Minister thanked the Hon’ble Governor for sparing his precious time for this event.
The Hon’ble Governor handed a cheque of Rupees 1 lakh to the SSLA from Raj Bhavan. Shri Kailash Sharma from Assam along with various other athletes from Sikkim was honoured and felicitated for their outstanding contributions towards the promotion of strength lifting in Sikkim.
The Hon’ble Governor, in his inaugural address, applauded the strength, determination and spirit of the participants. He added SSLA is utilising the talent in the right direction and making the
state proud and should continue doing great work. Focusing and recognising one’s talent is very important, he added. He also praised the Association for the number of women athletes
participating in Strength Lifting.
Further, he said that Strength lifting is not just about physical strength, but also about mental toughness and discipline. It requires hours of dedication, training, and hard work to achieve peak
performance. These athletes embody the spirit of perseverance, and they serve as an inspiration to all of us.
He urged everyone to come out and support the athletes as they compete and said that this is an opportunity for us to demonstrate community spirit and to show the spirit of our state.

सोसिएशन द्वारा खंड प्रशासनिक केंद्र मार्तम में दिनांक-22.04.2023 को 5 वें राज्य स्तरीय स्ट्रेंथ लिफ्टिंग तथा आई बी पी चैंपियनशिप कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया जिसमें सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री लक्ष्मण प्रसाद आचार्य मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में उपस्थित रहे।
कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत प्रथागत तरीके से दीप प्रज्वलन के साथ हुई। एसएसएलए के अध्यक्ष श्री एलन टार्गैन ने स्वागत भाषण के साथ एसएसएलए की उपलब्धियों और कार्यों के बारे में जानकारी दी।
अपने संबोधन में मार्तम को प्राकृतिक सौंदर्य से परिपूर्ण ग्राम बताते हुए माननीय राज्यपाल ने सिक्किम स्ट्रेंथ लिफ्टिंग प्रतियोगिता में भाग लेना प्रसन्नता का विषय बताया है।
स्ट्रेंथ लिफ्टिंग को देशी गांव का खेल बताते हुए माननीय राज्यपाल ने इसके लिए आत्मशक्ति, दृढ़ संकल्प और कड़ी लगन की आवश्यकता की बात का उजागर किया। उन्होंने इस क्षेत्र से जुड़े सभी को अभिनंदन का अधिकारी बताते हुए संस्था का कार्य सराहनीय बताया है ।
उन्होंने कहा कि किसी की प्रतिभा को पहचानना और उसे दिशा प्रदान करना बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बात है। उन्होंने स्ट्रेंथ लिफ्टिंग में भाग लेने वाली महिला एथलीटों की संख्या के लिए भी एसोसिएशन की प्रशंसा की।
माननीय राज्यपाल ने इस दौरान राजभवन की ओर से सिक्किम स्ट्रेंथ लिफ्टिंग एसोसिएशन को एक लाख रुपये की सहयोग राशि प्रदान की।
सिक्किम के विभिन्न अन्य एथलीटों के साथ असम के श्री कैलाश शर्मा को सिक्किम में स्ट्रेंथ लिफ्टिंग को बढ़ावा देने के लिए उनके उत्कृष्ट योगदान के लिए सम्मानित किया भी गया।
माननीय राज्यपाल ने इस प्रतियोगिता में शामिल होने वाले सभी खिलाड़ियों को शुभकामनाएं देते हुए अपने आप में विश्वास रखने के साथ सभी को प्रतियोगिता में अपनी शानदार प्रदर्शन करने की बात कही।
” आप सभी की ऊर्जा विकसित भारत को वह ऊंचाई प्रदान करेगी जिसका देश हकदार है ।” माननीय राज्यपाल ने कहा।
कार्यक्रम में माननीय मंत्री, वन विभाग श्री कर्मा लोडे भूटिया, माननीय क्षेत्र विधायक श्री सोनम वेनचुंगपा, अध्यक्ष खादी बोर्ड श्रीमती छुंग छुंग भूटिया और अन्य गणमान्य लोगों की उपस्थिति रहीl
