    Chaudhary Randhir Singh was an Indian freedom fighter, a formidable politician and an author born on 1st July 1924 in Bayanpuri.

    He was a member of the Indian National Congress. During February 1996 his tenure at Raj Bhavan in Sikkim played host to several distinguished guests, and their visits helped strengthen the State’s reputation and relationship with the rest of the country. Some of the notable guests were: Late President K.R. Narayanan, along with his wife and daughter, who were fascinated by the beauty of Sikkim and the Raj Bhavan. As the First Lady, Lady Narayanan launched a ‘Sikkim Corner’ in the Mughal Gardens of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, showcasing Sikkimese orchids and flowers. His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi, who showed great respect for protocol and called on the Governor during her visit to Sikkim, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, Shri Lal Krishan Advani. A children’s park and a coaching centre for children of class four employees were added to the Raj Bhawan complex.

    He was the author of multiple books which have been featured in libraries all across the world. A few titles authored by him included Baychara Kissan (Hapless Farmer), Nectar of Life, our rural poor and an autobiography detailing his life and political trajectory ‘Threshing Floor to Raj Bhavan’.
