    Shri Tashi Ongdup Lepcha, Chairman of the Sikkim State Cooperative Union, and Shri S.K Saha, Chairman of the West Bengal Cooperative Union, called on the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, at Raj Bhavan today.
    During the meeting, they apprised the Hon’ble Governor of the presence of 178 Multi-Purpose Cooperative Societies (MPCS) in the region. These MPCS offer various training programs such as mushroom cultivation, turmeric processing, beekeeping, among others. Additionally, they facilitate services including Kisan credit cards, loans, and consumer businesses. The cooperatives serve as a vital link for promoting organic tourism, Ayush practices, home stays, and cultural exchanges. The discussion also touched upon the significance of cardamom farming.

    The Hon’ble Governor highlighted his recent participation in the North East Council meeting held in Shillong, chaired by Shri Amit Shah, Hon’ble Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation. During the meeting, he emphasized the need for experts to provide training in Sikkim for the preservation of cardamom farming. He expressed confidence in Sikkim’s potential for growth across all sectors discussed by the chairmen and assured them of Raj Bhavan’s full support and cooperation in all their future endeavours.
