    10.03.2024 : Hon’ble Governor graced the Icon of North Bengal Award 2024 5th Edition as the chief guest.

    The Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, graced the Icon of North Bengal Award, 2024, 5th Edition, as the chief guest at the event organized by Dainik Jagran in association with Delhi Public School and Paras Developers. The ceremony took place at Mayfair Tea Resort, Siliguri.

    Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Governor extended his warm wishes to all attendees at the event recognizing individuals and organizations dedicated to societal service.

    He underscored the significance of those remembered by society as those who truly live for it. Drawing parallels, he cited the founding members of Dainik Jagran, who established the newspaper during the period when India was struggling for freedom, highlighting the historical role media played in India’s freedom struggle.

    The Hon’ble Governor emphasized the importance of societal work as a cornerstone for preserving Indian culture. He highlighted how such efforts contribute to the foundation of a robust nation, with a specific emphasis on the crucial contribution of media in shaping society and, consequently, building a stronger nation.

    The Hon’ble Governor presented the Uttar Banga Gaurav Samaan to Padmashri Mangala Roy, who has reached the remarkable age of 104 years and Sikkim Gaurav Samaan to Padmashri Jorden Lepcha.

    Simultaneously, the event featured the presentation of the Icons of North Bengal Awards to 17 deserving individuals and organisations. Furthermore, the Hon’ble Governor honoured 15 outstanding entities with the Sanstha Samaan Awards.

    Present in the program were, Shri Sudhir Kumar, IG, SSB (Siliguri Frontier), Shri D.B Sonar, DIG SSB (Siliguri Frontier), Shri Amit Kumar, DIG-BSF (North Bengal Frontier), Shri Pankaj Kumar, DIG, CRPF (Group Centre Siliguri), Sri Subhashish Halder, General Manager of Dainik Jagran, Sri Abhijit Dey, Manager Marketing at Dainik Jagran Siliguri, and Sri Deepak Agarwal Jee from Dwarika Group. The event also saw the participation of various awardees and other distinguished guests.
