    The Sicheygaon Sub Post Office witnessed a momentous occasion with the inauguration of its new sub post office, marked by the unveiling of a plaque and ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Hon’ble Governor, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya.

    The event, which was held at STNM Sochyagang Auditorium, commenced with the traditional lighting of lamps and a warm welcome song by the Post Office staff.

    Addressing the gathering, The Hon’ble Governor highlighted the pivotal role of the postal service in India’s socio-economic landscape. He emphasized the remarkable evolution of India’s postal network since independence, spotlighting its crucial role in fostering communication, social cohesion, and economic development, particularly in rural areas.

    Further, he underscored the modernization of postal services, recognising their expanded role beyond traditional mail delivery. He lauded initiatives such as the Jan Dhan Yojana and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, empowering marginalised communities and promoting financial inclusion. Additionally, he commended the integration of postal services into the digital realm, facilitating e-commerce transactions and government services.

    The Hon’ble Governor expressed satisfaction over the export of indigenous products like Temi organic tea and emphasised the role of postal services in promoting local products on a global scale. He also expressed gratitude to the entire postal officers and staff for their dedication and urged them to continue their efforts in fostering social and economic equality through government schemes and initiatives.

    The Hon’ble Governor handed over passbooks for the “Sukanya Samriddhi Yojna” and “Mahila Samman Yojna” to the depositors. Additionally, he released a special cover by the Post Office to commemorate a week-long program held at Raj Bhavan Sikkim, titled “Hamra Sankalp: Viksit Bharat Pushpit Sikkim.”

    The Post Master General delivered a welcome speech.

    The Vote of Thanks was presented by the Deputy SPO of Sikkim Postal Division.
