           Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim Shri Ganga Prasad today visited   Advanced Technical Training Centre, Bardang, East Sikkim and attended Teacher’s Day function organised by the centre. On reaching the centre, he was warmly received by Director Technical Education, HRDD  Shri D.K Pradhan, Principal Shri Sonam Palden Barfungpa, faculty  and students. He was accompanied by Additional Chief Secretary cum Secretary to Governor Dr K Jaykumar and officers of Raj Bhavan on the occasion.

Hon’ble Governor while addressing the teachers and students of the institute, exhorted the role of teachers in building the nation and called them as true nation builders. He said that Late Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, Former President of India   epitomises the sacrifice and service the teachers give to build the nation and called upon the teachers to be proud to carry forward the legacy of Late Dr S Radhakrishnan and Dr Kalam, who were eminent teachers before holding the office of President of India. He said that teaching is a lifelong responsibility to build the nation of tomorrow.

Hon’ble Governor in his address also mentioned that the teachers are regarded as deities in our culture since ancient times who  had in the past,  brought recognition to the  nation as the centre of world’s learning,  rightly called “Viswa Guru”, with their determination and dedication.

He also underlined the role of  technical institutes such as ATTC in the backdrop of Prime Minister’s mission  of  ‘Make in India, Skilled India, Start Up India, Digital India’ etc  in a bid to transform the country into a global manufacturing hub as we march ahead with the idea of New India.

While addressing the students of the institute, Hon’ble Governor called upon them to get empowered by the skilled based education to be able to fulfil the expectation the nation has on them being the country of largest youth population. He also reminded them of the sacrifices made by  youth during freedom struggle of the country and  stressed that the time has come for the youth of today to transform the country into what our freedom fighters had dreamed of.

The function was also addressed by Additional Chief Secretary, Dr K. Jaykumar wherein he called upon the students to strive for excellence and compete with oneself in the quest of  perfection.

    Earlier on the day, Hon’ble Governor was escorted to the various departments and laboratories of the institute on a campus tour wherein he was briefed by the faculties about the department’s functioning and discipline.
