Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim Shri Ganga Prasad today attended a special prayer and obituary function “Shraddhanjali Mahotsava-Shordsi Bhandara” organised in memory of Lt. Jagadguru Shankaracharya Padmabhusan Swami Satyamitranand Giri Maharajat Haridwar, Uttarakhand. SwamiSatyamitranandGiri, the Shankaracharya of Uttaramnaya Math and also the  founder of famous Bharat Mata Mandir at Haridwar, had expired on 25th June 2019. He was conferred Padmabhusan in 2015 by Government of India.

A galaxy of dignitaries including  heads of states, saints and religious heads were present on the occasion. Present  among dignitaries were Rashtriya Swayemsevak Sangh Chief Shri Mohan Bhagwat, Swami Ramdev, Governors from the States of Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Meghalaya, Goa and Sikkim, Chief Ministers of Haryana and Uttarakhand, Ministers, heads of 13 Akhadas, International Imams and others.

Hon’ble Governor made his obituary reference to the departed saint and hailed him as noble son of Mother India. Highlighting his contribution to the nation, Hon’ble Governor stated that the life and deeds of Late Swamiji will continue to show us the way forward and inspire us to remain committed towards strengthening the great nation Bharat.
