Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim Shri Ganga Prasad today  initiated  a special plantation drive at Raj Bhavan. The drive had the participation of Chief Secretary Shri A.K Shrivastava, Additional Chief Secretary to Governor Dr.K Jayakumar, Director General of Police Shri A Shankar Rao, PCCF cum Secretary Forest Shri M.L Shrivastava,  officers and staff of Raj Bhavan, officials from Forest Department and jawans of Indo Tibetan Border Police among others.  The plantation was an expression of commitiment towards the Mother Earth and green initiatives of State Government.

A total of 120 saplings of various species of plant, specially of wild fruits and flowers from temperate vegetation  found in higher reaches  of  Sikkim, were planted on the occasion.

Hon’ble Governor in his brief message, has urged every citizen  to commit to mother nature and plant trees to ensure better future for coming generation. Plantation is the most effective tool in fighting environmental degradation, climate change and prevent calamities borne out of human apathy towards environment, Hon’ble Governor added.
