 Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim Shri Ganga Prasad today completed his two days visit to Rhenock constituency and surrounding areas. He was accompanied by Area MLA of Rhenock Shri Bishnu Khatiwada throughout the tour duration.  The day’s first visit was at Lampokhari, Aritar where he enjoyed boating ride at the lake. He expressed his concern about the cleanliness of the lake premises and its water and called for better management to attract more tourists in the area. He stated that the area with its serene environment and natural beauty had its potential to emerge as one of the most popular tourist destinations with improved connectivity and greater responsibility of community and stakeholders towards responsible tourism.

Hon’ble Governor, on his second stopover, visited Rungdung Farm popularly known as Lepcha Farm and interacted with horticulture officials and farmers. It may be mentioned that the farm is on lease and is being managed by the horticulture employees appointed under One Family One Job scheme. Hon’ble Governor discussed various modalities with the farm stakeholders and urged them to remain consistent in their effort to promote entrepreneurship and model farming in the area.

 

Hon’ble Governor then visited Vishwa Vinayak Temple at Rhenock and performed Hawan and prayers for well being of all. He also interacted with committee members and stressed on the need to promote the temple as a prime tourist destination in the area besides its religious significance and sanctity.

On the last leg of his visit, Hon’ble Governor made a visit to Alkem Laboratories located at Kumrek along Rangpo-Rorathang road. He was apprised on the manufacturing process of various medicines and was conducted on various automated facilities in the plant by the management. Hon’ble Governor expressed his satisfaction on the technology and quality control is maintained by the plant and asked the management to keep the interest and welfare of its employees in priority besides the company’s commercial interest. He also planted a sapling in the laboratory premises.
