Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim Shri Ganga Prasad today attended Annual Function-cum-Parivar Milan function at Sikkim Kalyan Ashram, Ranipool. The function had the presence of All India Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram Joint General Secretary Shri Vishnu Kant, President Sikkim Kalyan Ashram Shri P.S Subba, other executive members, representatives of various NGOs, teachers, students and inmates of the Ashram, special invitees and   well-wishers.

Seven personalities from various walks of life were felicitated by Hon’ble Governor for their invaluable contribution towards Sikkim Kalyan Ashram and its initiatives.

Addressing the function, Hon’ble Governor expressed his pleasure on getting opportunity to attend Parivar Milan and meet the inmates, managements and well-wishers of the Sikkim Kalyan Ashram. He stated that Sikkimese society has always exemplified brotherhood, harmony and mutual respect among various communities and religious groups. He said that the tribes in Sikkim are socially and economically empowered as compared to their counterparts elsewhere in the country and this has been advantageous for Sikkimese society moving towards equity and mutual co-existence. Appreciating the mission of Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, Hon’ble Governor mentioned that Kalyan Ashram, through its various initiatives, work towards strengthening social fabric and national integration.

In order to ensure that our society remain united and conscious towards their national  duties as citizen of this great country, we must rise above the linguistic, religious and regional barriers, Hon’ble Governor added.  Hon’ble Governor while appreciating the donors and well-wishers who have contributed to the Ashram in the past also urged everyone to join hands and contribute generously to the Yagna of nation building.

Hon’ble Governor also donated 30 blankets to the inmates of Ashram and a  cash grant of Rupees twenty five thousands  during the function. The program had  colourful cultural presentations and Veda Path  and was also addressed by  various speakers.
