Ambassador of Nepal to India H.E Shri Nilamber Acharya called on Hon`ble Governor of Sikkim Shri Ganga Prasad today at New Raj Bhavan.

It was a courtesy call by Nepalese diplomat who is in Sikkim to attend Indo-Nepal Business Summit in Gangtok.

In a formal interaction, Shri Acharya underlined the shared civilisation, history, heritage, culture and value system which provides the basis of strong brotherhood bond between Nepal and India. He expressed that these significant elements of trust and relationship between the two nations can serve as foundation on which modern economic partnership can be further explored. The historical bonding between the people of two countries can be capitalised to improve connectivity, investments and commercial relations which is mutually beneficial to both countries.

He reiterated the commitment of Nepal to develop strong partnership by way of attracting more Indian investment in infrastructure sector including Railways and highways, power, tourism alongside  other service sectors in Nepal.

Hon`ble Governor expressed his delight on meeting the Ambassador and said that improved connectivity between Sikkim and Nepal will be mutually beneficial. Sikkim shares cultural and linguistic bond with Nepal and more people to people contact will be in interest of people of both region. Buddhism and Hinduism as shared religion in two countries has brought two countries closer and can serve as catalyst to religious tourist circuits which will be immensely beneficial to both countries, Hon`ble Governor added.

Hon`ble Governor  also highlighted on the efforts of Union Government led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi towards building trust and economic partnership with all neighbouring countries and Nepal in particular.
